 ডেস্ক রিপোর্ট, ঢাকা: এমন একটি প্রজাতির ব্যাকটেরিয়ার সন্ধান পাওয়া গিয়েছে, যারা নাকি চোখের নিমিষে প্লাস্টিক খেয়ে ফেলতে পারে। সম্প্রতি জাপানের একদল বিজ্ঞানী এই ব্যাকটেরিকায় সন্ধান পেয়েছেন।
এই আবিস্কারের মাধ্যমে বর্তমান বিশ্বের ক্রমশ বাড়তে থাকা প্লাস্টিক দূষণ সমস্যার সমাধান করা সম্ভব বলেই জানাচ্ছেন বিজ্ঞানীরা। বিজ্ঞানীরা জানাচ্ছেন, এই ব্যাকটেরিয়া ব্যবহৃত প্লাস্টিক পলিথিলিন টেরেপথালেট পুরোপুরি ভেঙে ফেলতে পারে। পানি কিংবা ঠান্ডা পানীয়ের বোতল তৈরির জন্য এই ধরণের জিনিষ ব্যবহার করা হয়। তারা আরও জানাচ্ছেন, ‘ইডেওনেলা সাকায়েনসিস’ নামের ব্যাকটেরিয়া দুটি এনজাইম ব্যবহার করে পলিথিলিন টেরেপথালেটকে ভেঙে ফেলে। ওয়ার্ল্ড ইকোনোমিক ফোরামের তথ্য অনুযায়ী, বর্তমানে বিশ্বে যে সব প্লাস্টিক ব্যবহৃত হয় তার এক তৃতীয়াংশই সংগ্রহের বাইরে গিয়ে পরিবেশে ছড়িয়ে যায়। যার থেকে ক্রমশ দূষণের গর্ভে চলে যাচ্ছে বিশ্ব। তা থেকে বাঁচতে এই ধরণের আবিস্কার নিঃসন্দেহে গ্রহণযোগ্য বলে জানাচ্ছেন অন্যান্য বিজ্ঞানীরা |
