এ বছরের মে মাসে টেলিটক চতুর্থ প্রজন্মের (ফোরজি) সেবা চালু করবে বলে জানিয়েছেন ডাক, টেলিযোগাযোগ ও তথ্যপ্রযুক্তিমন্ত্রী মোস্তাফা জব্বার। আজ বুধবার সংসদে সরকারি দলের সদস্য দিদারুল আলমের এক লিখিত প্রশ্নের জবাবে এ কথা বলেন তিনি। খবর বাসস।
তথ্যপ্রযুক্তিমন্ত্রী মোস্তাফা জব্বার বলেন, টেলিটক নিজস্ব অর্থায়নে প্রায় ২০০ কোটি টাকা ব্যয়ে সব বিভাগীয় শহরে ফোরজি সেবা চালু করার পরিকল্পনা হাতে নিয়েছে। তিনি বলেন, গ্রাহকসংখ্যা বৃদ্ধিতে টেলিটকের নেটওয়ার্ক পরিধি বৃদ্ধির লক্ষ্যে ইতিমধ্যে দুটি প্রকল্প চলমান রয়েছে। এ দুটি প্রকল্প শেষ হলে উপজেলা পর্যায়ে নিরবচ্ছিন্ন তৃতীয় প্রজন্মের (থ্রিজি) নেটওয়ার্ক কভারেজ দেওয়া সম্ভব হবে।
গত বছরের ডিসেম্বর পর্যন্ত দেশে থ্রিজি গ্রাহকসংখ্যা প্রায় ৬ কোটি ৪ লাখ ১৯ হাজার বলে জানিয়েছেন তথ্য প্রযুক্তিমন্ত্রী মোস্তাফা জব্বার।
