Bangabandhu satellite launch by March

The country’s first satellite Bangabandhu-1’s main infrastructure was completed. France’s Thales, a Space Agency named SpaceAlnia Space, did this task of building the infrastructure. Although the infrastructure was created this year, Bangabandhu satellite is not going to space. By the end of March, it is likely to launch in the United States from space.

Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission Chairman (BTRC) Shahjahan Mahmud said this on Wednesday in a view exchange program with Telecommunications Industry Reporters Telecom Reporters Network Bangladesh (TRNB).

Shahjahan Mahmud said, ‘The construction work of Bangabandhu Satellite has been successfully completed. We have recently visited the fully built satellite in France. Satellite will be sent from France to the United States one month before launch. At one point of time, the satellite is likely to be launched in space.

Under the supervision of BTRC, the whole work of Bangabandhu satellite creation is going on. Three steps are under construction. These are the creation of a ground structure for satellite building, satellite launch and control of the ground. In the meantime, the satellite creation work is over. The US space agency will be sent to the SpaceAx ‘Falcon-9’ rocket in space. Although the satellite flying work is abroad, it will be controlled from Bangladesh. For this, work is being done to build a ground control station in Joydebpur of Gazipur and Batamuniya in Rangamati.

Total cost of implementation of the project is Tk. 2, 967 crores. Of this, Tk 1,315 crore is being given from the government fund. And as a loan, multinational banks will give HSBC the remaining Tk 1,652 crore.

There will be a total of 40 transponders of Bangabandhu satellite. Of these 20 transponders will be kept for use in Bangladesh. The remaining 20 transponders will be kept for sale to any foreign company.

Senior officials of the Commission and TRNB members were present at the meeting meeting held at the BTRC office. TRNB President Rashed Mehedi and General Secretary Shamim Ahmed spoke on the occasion.
