According to the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission estimates, 20 lakh 99 thousand SIM operators have been closed in all the operators due to the involvement of illegal voice call business in the financial year 2015-2016. This information was found in the annual report of BTRC’s 2016-17 financial year.

Airtel, which was merged with Robi, had an estimated number of three lakhs 70 thousand in that year.
